Took two trips to Patriot Place for appointments at the facilities there. I checked the place our for charging stations after reviewing a press release from October 2019 announcing 50 JuiceBox electric vehicle smart charging stations would be installed throughout Patriot Place.

I found several JuiceBox chargers by the Pro Shop during a December 2023 trip there. Unfortunately, none of them could be activated despite the fact that I have an Enel X Way account. I kept getting the “Oops, something went wrong” message. That’s nor very helpful when you are trying to get some business accomplished. After fumbling around with the chargers for 10 minutes, I gave up. And I didn’t want to get further annoyed by calling an 800 number for so-called “customer service.”

The following week, I returned for another appointment and tried my luck at one of the ChargePoint chargers out in front of Santander bank. On pulling into the parking spot, the first thing I noticed was that there were no markings indicating that these spaces were for EV’s only. In fact, when I was done with the appointment 90 minutes later, I noticed that internal combustion vehicles were in the spaces.

I walked up to the charger and attempted to activate it using my ChargePoint app. Unfortunately, the charger showed no signs of life, and my efforts to get another charge were thwarted. The image below shows what the app was reporting for this charger.

I dutifully reported the issue to ChargePoint, received a note thanking me for reporting it, and was provided a tracking number. See image below:

There has been no update to the case number over the last 60 hours.

I ended up having to drive four miles to an Electrify America fast charger to get the juice I needed for the trip to Boston. The first charger I attempted to plug into there was not in service, but luckily, the one next to it was working and 15 minutes later, I had enough charge to get me to Boston.

Hopefully the team at Patriot Place will begin shaking things up with both the football team roster and charging stations. We are used to championship quality and hopefully will see a return to that status.
